We are so excited for you to join Urban School and we cannot wait to welcome you on campus. Until we see you in person, our community wanted to share the above big Blues video welcome and let you know how much fun it is to be an Urban Blue. Whether you’re an athlete, an artist, a writer or a scientist, our goal is to inspire your passion for learning so that you may start exploring who you are and who you want to become.

We can’t wait to see you in the fall. GO BLUES!

Welcome Class of 2025

Congratulations New Blues and Families!

We are thrilled to welcome you to the Urban community, and extend a very hearty welcome to our new Urban students and families! We look forward to joining with you in creating a memorable, challenging, joyful and successful high school experience.

You now join a special community of students, parents/guardians, alumni and former parents from the school’s 54-year history. Over the next few months and until school begins on Monday, August 30, 2021, please consult this page for information and updates.

We understand that some students might have questions about academics and/or student life at Urban. Please feel free to email us at admissions@urbanschool.org and we will be happy to answer your questions or put you in touch with a current student or other member of our community!

Course Sign-up Form - Due April 5
Please review and complete the 9th grade Course Sign-up Form by next Monday, April 5. You will be asked to choose the particular math and language level that you believe is appropriate as an incoming 9th grader, as well as an art elective. You can read about all of the required courses for incoming students on the page, and on the email we sent you recently from Assistant Head for Instruction Geoff Ruth. Please contact us with any questions!

Language and Math Level Placement
Incoming 9th graders who have previously taken Algebra 1 should take a math placement test to determine which level of math is most appropriate for them. If a student's math placement test does not clearly point to a proper math placement, math teachers will also hold a short conversation with the student to better understand their mathematical thinking and get more clarity on the best placement. If students have prior experience in a language and want to be placed into Level 2 language, they also will need to take a language placement test. Language teachers will review the test results, and place students into the course that will best support their growth, success and learning in language. See the 9th grade Course Sign-up Form for more information.
