We are so excited for you to join Urban School! Right now is a challenging time for all of us who love going to school every day. Urban’s campus is currently closed due to the coronavirus. We have implemented what we call Virtual Urban – different, but still with collaborative classrooms, online affinity spaces and linked up lunchtimes (for club meetings or just with friends). We can’t wait to be back on campus and wanted to share with you this video of everyday life in the Urban community. We hope this shows you how much fun it is to be an Urban Blue. Whether you’re an athlete, an artist, a writer or a scientist, our goal is to inspire your passion for learning so that you may start exploring who you are and who you want to become.

We can’t wait to see you in the fall. Go Blues!

Welcome Class of 2024!

Congratulations New Blues and Families!

We are thrilled to have you join the Urban community, and extend a very hearty welcome to our new Urban students! We look forward to joining with you in creating a memorable, challenging and successful high school experience for you and your family.

You now join a special community of students, parents/guardians, alumni and former parents from the school's 53-year history. Over the next few months

and until school begins on Monday, August 31, 2020, please consult this page for information and updates.

Fall 2020 at Urban
We will be sending out information about plans for fall in mid July.

Summer Reading Selection
Ninth graders will read Born a Crime, by Trevor Noah. Here’s a link to order it online from a consortium of independent bookstores. If you receive financial assistance from Urban and want the school to send you a copy, please email bookstore@urbanschool.org.

Academic schedules for 2020-21 will be sent out in mid-July. If you took a math or language placement test, your schedule will reflect the math or language level that provides the appropriate level of challenge for you.

Student Accident Insurance
Urban offers parents the option to purchase student accident insurance. This is an optional program that pays medical expenses incurred by an insured student as a result of an accident. Read more about it here (Spanish version). For information or to purchase, please visit the Markel Insurance site.

Choose Your Team for 2020-21!
It's time to start thinking about being an Urban Blue next year! Please let us know your interest in participating in one of Urban's many sports teams. Students not participating in athletics may choose from myriad physical activities throughout the year.  Go here to complete the Athletics Participation form!

Athletics at Urban
Learn more about Urban’s title-winning sports teams, including our boys varsity basketball team’s march to the CIF state basketball tournament earlier this month! Urban fields 30 teams over 14 different sports, and close to 70% of our students participate in one or more team each year. Because of our unique three-term schedule, students can participate in music, theater and other co-curricular activities as well as athletics! All students participating in athletics must have an annual physical; get the form here!

Need Translation?
Urban School provides certain key information pieces translated into Spanish, Chinese or Vietnamese and/or we can arrange interpretation services for 1:1 meetings. Please contact us at admissions@urbanschool.org should you need assistance!
