What: Urban's Annual Auction for Financial Aid

What: The Future is Now - A Networking Reception for Bay Area Independent High School Alums

6:30 – 7:15 pm Panel talk “The Future is Now” featuring alumni who work in new industries or professions

All professions welcome! Space is limited and this event is expected to sell out.

What: Class of 1997 20-Year Reunion
When: Saturday, May 19

3:30 pm: Classes without Quizzes* with LeRoy Votto

Who: Class of '97 alums and their families
Where: Urban's Salkind Center, 1630 Oak Street between Ashbury and Masonic
*The Continuing Relevance of the Antebellum and Civil War Periods in 2018
Topics will include: How the issue of slavery became politically paramount in the antebellum period; the critical political importance of the 3/5 clause in the Constitution; what did the Republican Party stand for? How Lincoln won the Republican Party nomination and then the 1860 election; why and how secession occurred; why war happened -- and why and how it matters; Lee (and his statues) and Grant; why the Confederacy lost and the Union won; the evolution of the emancipation decision - the freedom quest of the enslaved in the war; the central importance of Lincoln. What was the war about -- and what did winning mean. AND please bring questions you would like to ask.
