March - Auction for Financial Aid

What: Urban's Annual Auction for Financial Aid 
When: Friday, March 23, 6:30 - 11 pm
Where: Bimbo's 365 Club 
Join us for an evening of good music, good vibes and exciting auction action!


  • Cocktails, dinner and dancing to Petty Theft, the Bay Area’s ultimate Tom Petty tribute band
  • Special performance by Urban’s Bebop Combo
  • Exciting Live and Super Silent Auction and Fund-A-Need paddle raise

You would also be reaching Urban’s parents/guardians who are passionate about Urban and like to support our alums. April - Build Your Network

What: The Future is Now - A Networking Reception for Bay Area Independent High School Alums
When: Monday, April 16, 5:30 - 8:30 pm
Where: Google Community Space, 1888 The Embarcadero (entrance on Steuart Street near Howard)

5:30 p.m.           Doors open
6:30 – 7:15 pm  Panel talk “The Future is Now” featuring alumni who work in new industries or                                 professions
7:15 - 8:30          Informal networking
All professions welcome! Space is limited and this event is expected to sell out.

Whether you’re building your career, interested in exploring a new industry or seeking clients for your business, join Bay Area independent high school* alumni for our third annual Build Your Network event. The panel will be followed by wine, beer, hors d'oeuvres and casual conversations.

We are excited to plan our third annual Career Visit Days for sophomores. These special days for our students are designed to get them out of the classroom and broaden their high school experience. Watch this slideshow to see photos from our 2016-17 visits.

Who: All Urban Alums and their guests. All ages welcome!

This event is all ages and open to all Urban alums and their guests.

May - Class of 1997 Decade Reunion

What: Class of 1997 20-Year Reunion
When: Saturday, May 19
            3 pm: Doors Open
            3:30 pm: Classes without Quizzes* with LeRoy Votto
            4:30 - 6:30: Reception with wine and nibbles
Who: Class of '97 alums and their families
Where: Urban's Salkind Center, 1630 Oak Street between Ashbury and Masonic

*The Continuing Relevance of the Antebellum and Civil War Periods in 2018  
Topics will include: How the issue of slavery became politically paramount in the antebellum period; the critical political  importance of the 3/5 clause in the Constitution; what did the Republican Party stand for? How Lincoln won the Republican Party nomination and then the 1860 election; why and how secession occurred; why war happened -- and why and how it matters; Lee (and his statues) and Grant; why the Confederacy lost and the Union won; the evolution of  the emancipation decision - the freedom quest of the enslaved in the war; the central importance of Lincoln. What was the war about  -- and what did winning mean.  AND please bring questions you would like to ask.
