2nd Annual All-Alumni Reunion Weekend Recap
Thanks to all the alums who participated in Urban's 2nd annual All-Alumni Reunion Weekend on October 22 and 23! It was a hugely successful weekend, with about 100 alums participating (thanks to all who attended!). We hope everyone enjoyed reconnecting with friends and teachers. Pictures from the weekend are now available online and in the alumni photo gallery and Urban Alumni Association Facebook Fan Page. Stay tuned for an announcement with the dates for October 2011!
Alumni vs. Student Basketball Games
On Saturday, November 27, a valiant team of Urban grads returned to Page Street to take on the current varsity girls and boys teams in the annual Alumni vs. Student Basketball Games. The small but mighty women's team (joined by Urban's girls' varsity coaches) played a great game but in the end, the students were victorious with a final score of 56 – 53. The men's game that followed had one of the highest turnouts of alumni players to date, with 22 Urban grads ranging from the classes of 2010 to 1993. It was a very competitive game, but the alums managed to pull ahead with a 53 – 40 win over the boys varsity team. Many thanks to all the players and fans who came out for the games! |Urban Community Magazine Online|
As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability and in recognition of Urban's role as a leader in integrating technology, we have made a bold decision to move the Urban Community Magazine online. In the first issue, you will find three feature stories, plus NewsBits, AlumNews, as well as Class Notes from fellow alums. To read the Fall 2010 Urban Community magazine, please visit www.urbanschool.org/fall2010UC. You will need to use your Urban Alumni Portal login to view the Class Notes (blue box), or if you have not yet registered with Urban's Alumni community, please email Alison Brand at email@example.com for a user name and password (if you just can't wait, enter fall2010UC in the "All Others" gray box, but do contact Alison afterward!). We hope you enjoy the new online Urban Community Magazine and can appreciate our ongoing efforts to find new and interesting ways to engage with our community while greening the school!
We also want to thank our Alumni community again for its leadership this past year in the 100 for $100 alumni fundraising campaign, and we encourage you to read the feature story and accompanying alumni profiles.

In Memorium: Mary Jane Deere Wiman Brinton
We are deeply saddened by the recent loss of Mary Jane Deere Wiman Brinton, one of Urban's founders and valued member of the school community. Throughout her life, Mrs. Brinton devoted herself to many social causes and was steadfastly committed to improving both public and private school education in the Bay Area. It was this passion for serving the community and visionary leadership that led her to join with other parents to start Urban in 1966 as the first coeducational secondary independent school in San Francisco. Mary Jane passed away peacefully at her home in the company of family at the age of 88. Our thoughts and love go out to her family, friends and the many people whose lives she touched. More information about Mary Jane's remarkable life and work can be found in her obituary.
