What's Happening in November
by Susan Lee, Director of College Counseling
This is arguably the busiest month of the year. Seniors are finalizing their lists, perfecting college essays, and figuring out and filling in the UC and CSU applications. Students applying early had to finish their first application by November 1 or 15. In the middle of the big picture decisions, they are needing to attend to the little details of the application process: getting final college lists to teachers, sending scores to colleges, updating Naviance, checking up on the applications that have been sent, and so on.
At the beginning of the month, we had an informative presentation about College Admissions Testing and its place in the admissions process. Last week, we hosted a Financial Aid expert who spoke to our senior parents.
College aside, November is a very full month. The end of the term brings lots of papers, projects, tests and extra assignments; fall sports finished up and winter sports are beginning; the Fall Production happened, and the Winter Music Concert is coming up. Students are at their max.
Some of us find the pace invigorating; others find it overwhelming. In any case, we are thankful for the Thanksgiving week break! We hope that you all are able to sleep, catch up, enjoy the autumn weather, and have an opportunity to spend some quality time with the people who keep you going.
