Kali began coaching at Urban in Fall 2014, and also serves as Urban's Assistant Director of Athletics. Her love of volleyball began in middle school and she played competitively for the next 10 years. Kali played three years of varsity volleyball at Napa High, where she was a two- year captain, MVP and received all-Napa County honors. After high school, she attended The University of Arizona and played four years of club volleyball, where her team competed all over the country, and finished each year in the top 10.

During her college career, her team placed second at Nationals and she was named to the Div. 2 all-tournament team her freshman year. After college, she took a job as the Athletic Director and 6th-8th grade PE teacher at Blue Oak School in Napa, where she also coached volleyball, basketball and track. While in Napa, Kali coached five seasons with Evolve Volleyball Club, taking on head coach and assistant coaching roles with the 16s and 18s power teams.
