Dear Parents/Guardians, As we continue to closely monitor the current status of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to let our families know that we continue to take common-sense precautions, as outlined in a previous health notification from Charlotte. We are closely monitoring the situation through local and national health authorities. We are also in the process of finalizing an updated virtual school plan. Our plan is updated periodically, with the intent that it be used in case we need to close our physical buildings, due to an earthquake, fire, disease outbreak, or some similar circumstance. I have been meeting this week with our technology team, teachers and fellow administrators to ensure we have all contingencies in place, should we need to implement a "school-from-home" plan. Be assured, we do not anticipate activating this plan right now. Rather, we are updating it out of an abundance of caution and so that we are ready. As the CDC has emphasized, there is not currently a coronavirus pandemic in the United States. Given how quickly the global situation is evolving, we continue to monitor developments and will re-evaluate our steps and actions daily. In the meantime, the most effective way to stay healthy and minimize the spread of infectious disease is to follow best practices: • Students should stay home if they have a fever (≥100°F). • Wash hands frequently with soap and water and use hand sanitizers if needed. As always, please be in touch with any questions. Best regards, Geoff Ruth Academic Dean
