Admissions Welcomes You!

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,

We hope you and your family are well during these unpredictable and extraordinary times. Throughout this fall and early winter, we were so grateful that you chose to spend time getting to know Urban. The curiosity, enthusiasm and resilience we saw from you and your family is inspiring.

It's important to acknowledge that the process for applying to high schools was very different than what you may have expected or hoped for. But please know that we are honored to read your application, learn more about you and hear your stories.

We have always reviewed each file individually and holistically, but this year, we look forward to evaluating applications with a heartfelt appreciation for the challenges you have had to overcome. We promise to be thoughtful with the information you provided us and to make the best decisions we can. We know your strengths and passions will serve you well into high school and beyond.

Finally, according to the Bay Area Admissions Directors Principles of Good Practice, after February 1 we will no longer reach out to you directly (except for any missing application components or necessary information to complete your financial aid application). Of course, you are always welcome to email or call us if you have any questions. Admissions decisions will be posted to your Ravenna-Hub account on Friday, March 19, at 4 pm. We look forward to connecting with you then!

If you are an interested 7th grader, please check in with us in the late spring or summer to learn more about our application process.

Again, thank you for giving us the pleasure of getting to know your family, and thank you for sharing part of your journey with us.

Go Blues!

Lauren Byrne, Director of Admissions
Chris Williams, Assistant Director of Admissions & Outreach Coordinator
Ken Chou ('14), Admissions Associate & Events Coordinator

P.S. If you are an applicant and still have a question for a student or parent/guardian at Urban, please email a member of our Student Admissions Committee or Parent Admissions Committee at askablue@urbanschool.org!
