Admissions Welcomes You!

Dear Families and 8th Graders,

Welcome to Urban and thank you for your interest in our school! We are delighted that you are considering Urban in your high school search. Urban believes there is a better way to educate high school students. For more than 50 years, our educational innovations have ignited the minds of Urban graduates, who pursue their passion for learning at the nation’s best colleges, and who go out into the world uniquely equipped to solve the challenges this generation will face.

Urban teaches students how to think, not what to think."

We seek students with an enthusiastic approach to learning and a clear capacity for success in a rigorous academic program. Urban’s extraordinary teachers challenge our 420 students with a college preparatory curriculum in math, science, arts and humanities, with comprehensive service learning and competitive athletics programs, and a rich selection of co-curricular activities.

We invite incoming 8th graders, transfer students and their families to spend some time exploring Urban to learn more about our remarkable community. We recommend creating a Ravenna-Hub account during the summer to familiarize yourself with Ravenna. All application steps, details and components are located on and submitted through your Ravenna-Hub account.

Our admissions process begins mid-August. After creating your Ravenna account, you will be able to explore Urban and schedule events to visit our campus (AFTER clicking the button that says Apply) and begin your application. We host student visits starting mid-September; Open Houses, Parent Information Sessions and optional Student Interviews starting in October; and our annual Diversity Night at the beginning of November. We hope that you choose to take advantage of these opportunities to experience Urban and our strong, inclusive community!

Please note that our admissions process and events focus on 8th graders entering 9th grade. Space for transfer students into grades 10 and 11 is limited, and is on an annual basis (we do not accept mid-year transfers or rising Seniors). While our admissions events are only for 8th graders and transfers, interested 7th grade students are welcome to experience Urban at any of our athletic events, music concerts or drama performances if you'd like to check out our community.

We know that the high school application process can be confusing and overwhelming, but we are excited to help and guide you all along the way. We truly look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to campus. Go Blues!
