Urban was founded in 1966 with 22 students and 7 teachers in rented space in the basement of a church on Divisadero Street. What was then only a dream in the minds of a small group of parents is today a successful, thriving community of more than 350 high school students, 50 teachers and 20 staff members, thanks to the continued and generous support of our donors.

Today, gifts to Urban ensure our leadership in innovative high school education, while igniting a passion for learning in our students, and inspiring them to become life-long learners through our unique and engaging curriculum, extraordinary teachers and outstanding program.
