Welcome to the Urban Parents' Association
The Urban School of San Francisco is a diverse community of people dedicated to bringing to life an unparalleled and inspired high school education. The parents and guardians of Urban students comprise a key component of this community. The Urban Parents' Association represents one important way for parents to come together in support of the school. We welcome all Urban parents and guardians, who are by definition members of the Parents' Association.
The Parents’ Association, led by the Parent Board and many committee volunteers, serves three main purposes:
- Coordinates participation from the parent community to support the school in achieving its mission.
- Hosts live forums for all parents/guardians to increase dialog between the school and parents, and to present organized discussion on topics of interest and relevance.
- Seeks to create opportunities for parents to meet and support each other, forming meaningful relationships within a wonderfully diverse and dynamic group of people.
A critical part of the Parents’ Association is the series of meetings that are held throughout the year and that are open to the entire parent community. Our goal this year for these meetings is to give parents a window into the school-related world our students inhabit through panel discussions on topics including academics, social dynamics and the school’s long-term values. These meetings provide all of us a chance to greet and learn from each other, ask questions and have input.
For current Urban parents, please note the on-line calendar of Parents' Association Events and other information provided via email and the weekly news bulletin This Week at Urban in order to stay current. We are here fundamentally to help connect parents with the school environment and look forward to hearing from you and working with you in whatever way we can.
If you are a prospective Urban parent and your family is considering The Urban School, we welcome and encourage your interest in this remarkable community. If we can help in any way, please let us know.
Warm regards,
