What league and conference does Urban participate in?
Urban is a member of the Bay Area Conference. The BAC has 3 different leagues within its structure, and we are a member of the Bay Counties League - West. Urban participates in the North Coast Section. The NCS is one of 10 sections within the state of California, which comprise the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).
What other schools do you play?
Other BCL - West schools include Drew, Convent of the Sacred Heart, Crystal Springs Uplands, Lick Wilmerding, Marin Academy, Stuart Hall, University High.
Non-league and pre-season games are played against a variety of schools from San Francisco, the Peninsula, the East Bay, the North Bay and beyond.
Where and when do you practice and have games?
Practices are daily after school. There are practices and games on some Saturdays, as well as other vacation days when school is not in session.
Urban has an outstanding relationship with the University of San Francisco, and are able to utilize many of USF's facilities for our practices and games for baseball, soccer, basketball and volleyball.
We also use many public facilities throughout the city.
Here is a list of where some of our teams practice and host home games:

When are the fall, winter and spring tryouts?
Fall tryouts begin the week BEFORE school starts, the 3rd week in August.
Winter tryouts begin the first week in November.
Spring tryouts begin the first week in February.
Teams usually have pre-season conditioning that begins the month leading up to the tryouts.
Do you make cuts?
Yes, we make cuts. Urban tries hard to allow students who want to participate in athletics the opportunity to play on a team. In order to maintain a high level of competitiveness, we do have tryouts and in some instances have to cut students. When interest exists, we will look at creating lower level teams.
Is there guaranteed playing time?
We have minimum guarantees at the frosh/soph and JV levels, but there is no guaranteed playing time at the varsity level.
Are the teams successful?

What is the physical activity requirement at Urban?
The physical activity program at Urban allows the students to fulfill their requirement through various on and off campus activities.
What is the PCA?
The Positive Coaching Alliance motto is "Transforming youth sports so sports can transform youth". PCA believes that winning is a goal in youth sports but that there is a second, more important goal of using sports to teach life lessons through positive coaching.
PCA trainers come to Urban and give workshops to our student-athletes, our coaching staff, and our parents, in an effort to continually strengthen our athletic program.
